Ms. Yamada Midori, Ikenobo Sokatoku Professor, held an event introducing traditional Japanese culture.

  On 9th (Thu) and 10th (Fri) of March Ms. Yamada Midori, Ikenobo Sokatoku Professor, and Ms. Olga Selivanova, Sumie lecturer, held Ikebana and Sumie demonstration and workshop.

  In collaboration with “Hikari” Armenian-Japanese educational and cultural center Ikebana and Sumie demonstration and workshop were held at Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts, and in Echmiadzin Sumie workshop was organized at Yeghishe Tadevosyan School of Fine Arts.

  During the Ikebana demonstration, Ms. Yamada Midori, Ikebono Sokatoku Professor, created 3 compositions representing the history and technique of Ikebana. The participants of workshop prepared flower arrangements by following Professor’s instructions.

 After learning the basics of Sumie from lecturer Olga Selivanova, the participants of Sumie workshop were drawing bamboo, fish, Rooster which is this year’s symbol, mountain scene, etc under the guidance of the lecturer. The participants admired the way how nature scenes were painted in dark and light shades of ink with paintbrush.

  Both days the hall was overcrowded. Due to Ikebana and Sumie event the participants were able to deepen the interest in Japanese culture, and had a great opportunity to gain an experience at the same time.
