Mr. Charles Aznavour, born Shahnour Vaghinag Aznavourian, passed away on Monday, October 1.

For well over 70 years, he was the most beloved singer of French Chansons sung with true Armenian soul. In Japan, he was extremely popular and deeply respected, not only as an artist but also as a great philanthropist and diplomat.

In spring 2018, Mr Aznavour was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette in the name of the Emperor of Japan.

The two concerts in Japan, September 17 in Tokyo and September 19 in Osaka, turned out to be the very last of his entire career.

Rest in peace.
