Border measures upon entry into Japan are continuing regardless of nationality (including Japanese nationals). If you do not present a negative COVID-19 certificate, the airline will prevent you from boarding, and even if you board, you will be denied entry into Japan on the spot.

As of April 29, Armenia is a country where cases of people infected with the mutant virus have been confirmed, so it is a "country subject to additional quarantine related to the COVID-19". Nevertheless, since Armenia has not been designated as a "country/region where the mutant variant of coronavirus strain is endemic", it is currently necessary to obtain an inspection certificate in advance. However, it is not mandatory to wait at the accommodation facility for 3 days after entering Japan.

In addition, even if you enter into Japan using a transit country [for example, the United Arab Emirates (Dubai)], and this country has been designated as a "country/region where the mutant variant of coronavirus strain is endemic", if you do not enter the country at the transit point, waiting at the accommodation facility is not required. On the other hand, visitors from Armenia will be required to self-isolate for 14 days after arrival in Japan.

Due to lack of necessary items in the format issued by medical institutions, issues such as refusal to board or trouble during immigration procedures have been reported all over the world. For this reason, to obtain the inspection certificate, please use the format specified by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (https://www.mofa.go.jp/ca/fna/page25e_000334.html). Also, please be sure to check the contents at the time of receipt even if it is written in the specified format. There have been cases where the name etc. contained errors, the medical institution had not stamped, and for that reason, the flight was denied in Dubai. We have confirmed that it is possible to receive the certificate with specified format at the medical institutions listed in the link below, but since the medical institutions are unfamiliar with this specified format, to avoid any kind of misunderstanding, please check the format by yourself as there are often cases where the contents, signatures, stamps, etc. of all items are incomplete in the negative certificate in the specified format created.
