2024/8/6
On August 6, 2024, the annual commemoration ceremony for the victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings was held at Children's Park in Yerevan by the Hikari Center, led by President Ms. Karine Piliposyan.

Ambassador Aoki Yutaka attended the ceremony alongside Ms. Karapetyan, the Head of the Asia-Pacific Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, numerous members of the Hikari Center and other citizens.

The ceremony commenced with a tribute and members of the Hikari Center placed flowers and folded paper cranes at the "Peace Stone," a monument that features a piece of stone from Hiroshima. This act of reverence was followed by a solemn one-minute silence, allowing all attendees a moment to reflect on the profound loss experienced by Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Ambassador Aoki, Ms. Karapetyan, and Ms. Piliposyan delivered heartfelt speeches, emphasizing the importance of peace and the need for continued efforts to prevent future tragedies. Following the speeches, Hikari Center members read haiku about peace in Armenian and Japanese. The Little Singers of Armenia added a cultural touch to the ceremony with their performance of Japanese "Furusato" and Armenian "Kilika" songs.

In closing, the attendees placed paper lanterns around the "Peace Stone" to honor the victims.
