Signing of the Tax Convention between Japan and the Republic of Armenia

- On December 26, 2024, Ambassador AOKI Yutaka and H.E. Mr. Vahe Hovhannisyan, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia signed the “Convention between Japan and the Republic of Armenia for the Elimination of Double Taxation with Respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance” (hereinafter referred to as the Convention) in Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia.
- This Convention aims to eliminate double taxation in the two countries, by clarifying the scope of taxable income in Japan and the Republic of Armenia. It is also expected that this Convention ensures prevention of international tax evasion and tax avoidance, promoting further mutual investments and economic exchanges between the two countries.
- The Convention will enter into force after the completion of the domestic procedures in both countries (in the case of Japan, approval by the Diet).
