Signing and exchange of Notes concerning the General Cultural Grant Assistance related to the “Project for Improvement of Equipment for Digitizing Archival Records of Armenian Public Television”

 On 30th of March, H.E. Mr. Eiji Taguchi, the Ambassador of Japan in Armenia, and by H.E. Mr. Vahan Martirosyan, Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies signed and exchanged Notes concerning the General Cultural Grant Assistance related to the Project for Improvement of Equipment for Digitizing Archival Records of Armenian Public Television at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia in the presence of H. E. Mr. Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of RA.
 
  From Armenian side, Mr. Armen Papikyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Samvel Farmanyan, head of the Armenia-Japan parliamentary friendship group and Ms. Margarita Grigoryan, Executive Director of the Public TV Company were also present on the signing ceremony.   
 
  In the framework of this cooperation, Government of Japan will provide Armenian Public television, the sole-publicly owned TV with equipment for digitizing archival records up to 137. 9 million yen.
 
  Armenian Public television has a variety of valuable video materials regarding the Armenian culture, history, environment, education, disaster prevention, etc. Particularly, the video material of the Spitak earthquake, that occurred in 1988 and caused serious damage, has become a valuable resources for disaster prevention enlightenment.
 
  Through this cooperation, Japan will restore, repair and digitize the enormous analog video materials possessed by the Public TV, and also improve the environment which allows people to access these materials through the Internet, which is expected to contribute to the improvement of institutions and infrastructure for economic growth and regional development as well as to the strengthening of disaster prevention measures.
